Re: Clark Craft Epoxy

Thanks for that,

Apple smell sounds like a big improvement. I found it cured soft,
but did become hard after months. There are certain uses like
laminating your own ply and so forth that put the epoxy at the
neutral axis, or not far from it, and so the cost issue becomes
compeling

I have used it almost exclusively for a couple of years. The smell is
different now, more like apples. The cured epoxy is strong, tough and
flexible. It is a 50/50 mix, so is very forgiving of mix ratios. I
have never had a batch of mix fail to kick and get hard. I am
currently trying the progressive epoxy, but if I don't like it, I
will be returning to CC. It comes in 1/2 and 1 gallon jugs, with
threads that fit standard pumps. The epoxy pumps without air bubbles
at around 70 deg. The only thing I don't like is the $50+ (US) price
tag per gallon, plus shipping. I did Fisher10 with about 1 3/4
gallons and will probably use the rest of the 2 gallons recoating the
inside again. It also works quite well being thinned to 2/3rds for a
penetrating sealer. See Fisher10 at:

At present the bottom is drying its 2nd coat of Spar Varnish and the
sides will be painted red/white/blue. I am considering leaving the
inside bright.

Anyone use this stuff recently? I bought some about 10 years ago,
and while I wouldn't use it in high load areas, it is OK for general
use. Smell of perpermint bothers my wife.

If I lived in the US I might use RAKA in preference since it seems to
be gaining acceptance, but thsi stuff is just over the border for me,
and I can pick it up. Importing RAKA is expensive since it comes via
UPS.
