Send some of your rain up here to Massachusetts.
You didn't mention PL Premium Construction Adhesive. Seems to work
well and much cheaper at HD than elsewhere around here.
Our Home Despot up here has some kind of hardwood plywood from
Chesapeake Hardwood Products which is supposed to be exterior, but
doesn't do all that well on boil test. Any insights on it?

Having recently been bitten by the boat building bug I've been
doing quite a bit of research, trying to determine the best boat for
me and the most cost effective materials to use. Since I work for
Home Depot I figured obtaining supplies would be no problem. Boy, was
I in for a rude awakening! Our Depot no longer handles lauan at all,
and has replaced it with sandeply and virola, neither of which is
recommended for exterior use by the manufacturers. We don't carry
Weldwood dry glue or Titebond II, no stainless steel, bronze or
copper nails and are in the process of phasing out epoxy kits. About
the only thing I'll be able to purchase from my employers in the
paint, but first I have to find everything else! I have located 1/4
lauan at a local 84 Lumber and I'll probably get everything else I
need online. Before you get the wrong idea, I don't live miles from
boatable water where you might think that these items are rarely
called for, I'm located in SW Florida, right on the coast and am
surrounded by miles of navigable canals. Aren't there others out
there in this area building boats?
On a different tack, I just received my copy of Jim Michalak's new
book and was very happy to have gone through the PayPal hassle (not
really all that bad!) to get it. He really answers a lot of the
questions I had after reading Payson's "Build The New Instant Boats".
Has anyone had any experience using 3M 5200 Marine Adhesive? I
wondered if it was a viable alternative to any of the other glues
I've been reading about.
Thanks to everyone that answered my questions about building a June
Bug. Hope to find all the materials and start construction soon. If
it keeps raining like it has been lately I'm gonna need a boat!
