Re: Book List

Hi Announcer,

There were over 80 books on the original list. Too many to figure out
prices. When folks expressed an interest I gave them prices for the
books they were interested in. I must say that I am not giving them
away yet. A guick look at the list and it is immediatly obvious that
most of the books are of the "dreaming of world cruises" variety. The
other mix is concentrated on boat building. The "dreaming" books are
not of much interest on this website and these books will end up at my
local used book seller on consignment. There are one or two that might
intestest a collector. "Aussies" might be interested in the Villiers
books. Brits might be interested in the Peter Heaton books.

As to my reasoning for ridding myself "of such fine reading material"
the simple answer is that I have read it all. Further I don't plan on
building any more boats unless my daughters express an interest in
canoes or craft of that sort. I went out in my just completed "Bobcat"
and it suits me to a "T" and it will take care of me into my dotage.

If you think you are interested in any of the " dreaming" books just
figure that I will ask for postage plus a couple of dollars.

The construction books I will ask for 75 or 80 percent of new and pay
the postage. Of course if the books are damaged or if my cat has peed
on them I don't ask much for them.

I give an honest description of the books and whether you want them is
up to you. If you don't like them I will send your check back when I
get the book back. By the way Canadian correspondents I will have to
ask for 1/2 of the postage. I have learned to my sorrow that book rate
is limited to 50# shipped to Canada.

As to fine reading material I have a large library which I have picked
up at "friends of the library" sales and used book stores over the
past 45 years and I have plenty to read.

As an aside I have years of "Woodenboat", "Small Boat Journal",
"Messing about in Boats" thatI am going to let go of. Any takers?
Enough.

I saw the books but no prices, what is a good way to find out what
your asking for them? I would like to investigate purchasing some of
your books and also to know why you would rid yourself of such fine
reading material?
