Outboards for a folding schooner

Today I had the opportunity to test some outboards on the schooner.
First was an antique 2HP seagull which pushed us along very nicely
at 2/3 throttle. Next was a 8HP johnson which zoomed along a t 1/2
throttle and no faster at full throttle.
I hereby bow to the designer and think that his recommended 4.5HP
will be just right so I,m now getting the pamphlets and comparing the
prices and weights.
Also discovered that 1 10' oar is plenty for a 30 footer if you row
standing up facing forward. I think another2' longer would be just
right.
David , I finally got my wife out for a sail and she settled back
and enjoyed herself. later she blew me off my feet and asked how the
Other folding schooner( the big one ) is coming on. I dont know
whether to be excited or worried.
We met some other boats today , wooden boats , home made wooden
boats.
This is a rare thing out here in the desert, believe me.
of course we were all too busy yacking and sailing to take a photo.
Cheers all Paul
