Re: NIDA -CORE Structual Honeycomb Material
HJ, I am positive they have product that can accomplish your sound
attenuation problem. One product is a adhesive backed rubber mat with
a textured metal foil exterior surface that is not only sound and
vibration resistant it is also a heat barrier and the engine heat can
be ducted away rather than being transferred through the engine
cover. With a thickness of less than 1/16th" and adhesive backing how
could you go wrong?. This product is resistant to corrosion and is
also cleanable in case of any petrochemical leaks so you can maintain
a clean enclosure if you find that a priority. They also have custom
CNC trim machines for people who need volume production, not very
applicable for the home builder. This product meets and exceed ISO
9001 and ISO 9002 industrial standards and is certified for CG
certification.
My main design and fabrication work for the last 15 years has been
weighted more toward metallurgy but I find these product intriguing.
Since my fall and subsequent injuries I haven't been able to work. As
soon as I am able I am going to concentrate on boat building in wood
but I can see that some of these products will make there way into my
shop. I hope that next summer I'll be working like you guys and gals
on my own boat projects. My wife works and that has saved us, now it
looks like my battle with the insurance companies may be ending soon.
I can admit that since I found Phil Bolger's boat designs and this
group it has really help me deal with my forced house bound
existence. So thanks to one and all for these discussions, they have
meant more than you'll ever know. I can get out and build, sail or
boat vicariously through all of you, since we share one of my best
hobbies. I hope my contributions from all my experience has helped
and like the hippocratic oath to first do no harm.

Hi Harry,
I got their package too and they have some serious sound dampening
material, pricy but good. I've had some experience in recording
studio management and none, NONE, of the sound dampening materials
are cheap but there is some really good sound dampening technology
out there.
Their stuff looks good. Get the sample package.

Email them and ask for a few samples for testing. When I did they
gave me over 20 different products in the box with a pamphlet the
size of a woodenboat magazine. The pamphlet has many design and
building tips. All this stuff is to good to be true. I'm just hoping
a second mortgage won't be necessary to afford a small boat made of
their products.
