Re: WDJ Pics

Peter,
I'd love to see some shots of her sailing as well. I just have not
been able to dig up somebody willing to follow me in a dinghy to do
the job! In two weeks I will have to put Esmeralda (or whatever she
is going to be called) on shore for the winter. So far I have not had
the chance to settle down in one of her comfy four berths with a
bottle of wine, a good book and a burning kerosene lantern. But I
will some day!
Sailing her is fantastic, btw.

Schooner Captain Bjorn,
Lovely set of pictures for us to drool over! I cannot wait to
see some sailing shots of her in a fair breeze. It must be a grand
feeling to actually hoist those sails and head out to sea while being
surrounded by such spectacular scenery.Equally grand must be the
ritual of settling down for the night in such a clean cosy
cabin.LUCKY MAN!
Sincerely,

choice of colours, from the bleak shores of the St.Lawrence.......

Hello Group,
I have uploaded a few more pictures to the "William D Jochems" Folder
in the Photo Section of this Group. The photos are made by Susan, an
American Friend of Nels of this group. She lives 30 min from Oslo and
came to see and take pictures of the schooner a couple of weeks ago.
A small world, isn't it? Thanks Sue and Nels!

Tusen takk, John!
Friends of Nels on this group visited me at the marina yesterday. I
rigged the boat with all four sails up still in the berth. She was
photographed inside and out. I hope to get some copies and will
upload them swiftly.
Next boat? Er.. Well.. If it were up to me I would first of all build
a cartopper for a tender and sailing practice for my children. I also
have several strip kayaks in mind and a sailing canoe (MacGregor) by
Iain Oughtred... And since I have a secret (OK not secret any more)
dream of crossing the Atlantic on a minimalistic basis I also plan to
build a "Farthing" ("14ft Vertue") or even more extreme: one of Sven
Yrvinds latest design.
However, it is NOT up to me! Dreaming is still allowed, though..

Bjorn, what a wonderful site! I must ask you to find someone with a
chase boat so you can get pictures of the whole boat under sail. You
have a right to be very proud of your accomplishment. The only
question I must ask is what are you planning on building next? Did I
read before something about some house work you must perform?

It looks like a very fine schooner that should make everyone envious
of you when you sail smartly by them. For the pictures, Bra, Takk!

Richard,
Both peak halyards are 'correctly' positioned however I can see that
the photos give you the impression that they are attached to the boom
ends. When Bolger in his revised plans recommended a 2 ft shortening
of the masts he explicitely stated that the cleats for the peak
halyards should not be moved.

Bjorn, is your peak halyard attached to the back end of the gaff? I thought
it was supposed to be attached 2/3 out? Or am I confused? This would change
the angle and give more upward pull on the sail...
