Re: Digest Number 1217 - CSD/CSB
Well In that case I hope you fellows go after CSD and are successful.
The representative I talked to was from Visa, and he told me that
internet ordering can be very risky and there was little chance of
them tracking down offenders. All they have is a reference number to
go on often. No address or phone number. His message was to
be... "absolutely certain that the company was legitimate."
When I used to order from Bernie, I always called or faxed as well
and got him to fax a copy of the receipt. Of course he was very
responsive and responsible.

My CC Company makes me put it in writting, and stops charging me interest
until their investigation is finished then they reverse it, but never had
any major complaints about the process, and it's always been resolved for me.

I've had about half a dozen problems over the last 10 years with charges on
the credit card. In every case where I called and said they didn't ship the
merchandise the credit card company imediatly reversed the charges and
started an investigation.

In my experience the CC company will do very little either, since you
have "authorized" the payment when you gave out your number. If you
refuse to pay the CC company then it is YOUR credibility that is on
lthe line.

Mike {and all}
The BBB has NO 'force of law' . . . they can only 'admonish' or take
away their 'symbol'. It is the same with local 'adjudication
commissions'. That is why I have LEARNED to never, ever pay for anything
sent for except by Credit Card. That way, if the statement comes before
the product, it is a simple telephone call to 'protest' the payment . .
. . and THEY WILL investigate the charges. Until you pay, it is THEIR
money on the line. {I don't know, but they may also be able to do
something after you have paid and still not received satisfaction}
From what I understand, the 'situation' went into the dumper after
Bernie Wolford {spl?}left the scene. He had a big 'closeout sale' of
Phil's plans just before . . . . that's where 'BEE' came from.
