paul, i would just drill a couple of holes in the bow transom and
thread line. its cheaper,doesnt punch a hole in other boats if you
bump them, allows you to push and pivot and saves time finding the
fitting.Has worked well on my boats.i'm sure others have good advice
that will help increase your boating pleasure but as i see it your
big problem in Canada is lack of water, the soft kind. To extend your
short season you could reinforce the bow for ice breaking then
install runners or skis on the bottom to make a mobile ice fishing
hut.I am sure you already have the huskies or one of those Bombardier
snowmobiles.Huskies would be better I guess huddled together for
warmth at night.I believe PCB has already designed a sailing cruising
iceboat, maybe he could be of further help?
