I took the boat out yesterday for a three hour cruise with a friend -
none of the transom splashing took place, so it must be just a weight
distribution thing. I plan on updating my web comments. Given my
findings yesterday combined with the fact that I checked the manual
and find that the placement of the splash plate relative to the
bottom of the boat is within the install specs, I don't plan to
modify the transom.
Weight- not sure. I take the engine off, and then carry the boat
around or wheel it on a dolly. Hence I can say that it is not heavy
enough to require a trailer.
