Re: Sailing in the rain.
Richard,
Beautiful boat you've got there(!) and I whole-heartedly
encourage you to do whatever you must to allow sailing in crappy
weather.Afterward, you might even insulate the works so that you can
sail year round, anywhere there is water.I know I have always enjoyed
boating when it is miserable outside just because the crowds on the
river are all but gone, the greyness of everything adds an aire of
approaching doom and the mist is usually just heavy enough to lose
sight of the shore line or other familiar landmarks thus allowing my
imagination to place me anywhere I please!Add to this a number of
uninhabited islands near where I boat and things really take on a
child-like quality of"the great explorer" or something from the Hardy
Boys! It has also been during those precious times of solitude where
I have thought of writing a book to be called," A Lifetime Lost At
Sea" or the recollections of boyhood dreams and desires.....
Anyway, many happy sailing adventures to you!
Sincerely,
Peter Lenihan, hard aground along the St.Lawrence......

Schrodinger's Cat and I went for a nice sail in light (<10) air today, in
the drizzle. Water dripping off the pilot house and I'm sitting underneath
in short sleeves feeling smug.
Note to self, make hatches on pilothouse roof out of plexi or something so I
can see the sail.
High point was passing (under sail) the two guys in the 22ft of so plastic
boat, bundled up against the rain, outside and miserable. Made even better
by the fact that thier sails were down and the 2hp Honda 4 stroke was going
full blast!

High point was passing (under sail) the two guys in the 22ft of so plastic
boat, bundled up against the rain, outside and miserable. Made even better
by the fact that thier sails were down and the 2hp Honda 4 stroke was going
full blast!
