Re: speedy sailor/Surf
I, too, have built the Bolger/Payson Surf -- a year ago. I have
construction and launch photos but they're on the PhotoWorks server
and general accessibility is difficult; contact me directly and I'll
send you the album links. Unfortunately, I have no sailing shots as
yet, just rowing.
Have you seen the June 2001 edition of 'Saling' magazine? Starting on
page 56 is an article (with colour photos) on thinwater sailing in
Florida using a Surf. www.sailingonline.com

Reckon that would give the lasers a run for their money.

Looks like a beaut, I forgot about Proa. (by the way, SELF righting
was of course an error - meant to say easily rightable.) She would
certainly turn some heads at the local sailing club when I rolled up
with one.

Archaeopteryx from Small Boats? That experimental, forward centerboard
boat whose name I forget that's in the beginning of BWaOM? Neither of
these will swamp.

Hi group,
I want a quick and easy project my son and I can build together. (Yes
Micro is still ticking along - long term project that one) We built
tortoise a year of so back, but I seriously misjudged his need for
speed. I want a boat that is fast enough to keep up with most at the
local sailing club (mirrors, lasers etc), it also has to be easily
self righted and bailed. I always wanted to build SURF, would she
fit the bill?
Is she more tender than Nymph? (too tender)
Could she me modified to make her more self bailing?
Any comments on her sailing abilities?
Any responses gratefully received!
Col Mooney
