Re: AS 29?
David,
Never fear,it is all Lexan and will not generate nightmare
scenarios with you and/ the kids on board....:-)
Minimal glassing required outside on hull surface with little
sanding needed so long as your lofting is spot on fair, should you be
thinking of the"other" kind of glass.
Happy Sleepy Time!

You are absolutely correct. I forgot a couple of words in my haste
so the posting would read correctly. The drill works like this:
Day 1 - Harwich to Edgartown. Stay up all night. Stay an extra day
to marvel at Ernie Boch's masterpiece shrine to all that is wrong
with corporate America, then (that's the word I forgot) over to
Nantucket to enjoy all that it can offer, then a Nantucket sleigh
ride home to Harwich!
Now to think about that strip built Chebacco with the pilot house.
this could be real fun...I.m starting to itch all over (or is it the
glass shards)

Hmm...Last time I was out that way, Edgartown was on Martha's
Vineyard. Could be wrong...maybe they moved it.
Just wouldn't want you getting lost out there. (LOL)
That trip is on my list as soon as MY AS-29 is in the water. Next
summer, I hope.
Sure am looking forward to stretching out in that queen sized bed. It
is huge. We laid in the boards for the bed last week. Just have to
set some styrofoam under and I'm ready to tack them down permanently.
Hope I can get her closed in before the snow flies.
The aluminum plate for the bilgeboards arrives next Wednesday. Once
the boards are in, I can close up the sides. Then I can put in a
heater and work all winter on the interior.
Wish me luck.
Richard,
You are,of course, correct and I am sorry if anyone has been
mislead but you've done such a very nice job of it that I cannot get
it out of my head.....that mod will always be associated with your
Chebacco :-)
And yes,the idea of getting John Welsford to design a longer
version is very good but the Chebacco hull is sweet and from our
Heros' board to boot!
Sincerely,
Peter Lenihan, waiting to see what David Jost thinks of this......

Or, an even better idea, ask John for a longer version of Penquin.

Several people have mentioned wanting plans for "my" boat or "my" version of
the Chebacco...
To clear things up, the pilot house cruising Chebacco is a PCB&F design mod,
not my own invention.

Peter: That is one very FINE idea . . . now you've got me thinking!
By the way, that 22-foot John Welsford design is called PENQUIN.
Plans and details available here:

Whaddyamean love is fickle?!?! You've only just begun to discover
some fine adventures with your Micro.....oh well....must be a
hormonal thing :-)
But now for some serious stuff David.Take a deep breath and wrap your
noodle around this;
ya takes your Chebacco 25(as per BWAOM) and builds yer hull a la
strip planking. Then,ya sends Richard Spelling a really nice gift and
ask him ta share his pilot house plans which in turn you will scale
up and put on the 25 foot version of the Chebacco.
For an interior,go for something along the lines of John
Welsfords 22 footer(can't recall the name) as it includes a neat
DOUBLE berth up front to anchor that wandering eye of yours!
The strip planking will do two things for you David:
A) give you a nice challenge that you can meet with ease yet
allow you to work in little spurts
B) result in a really swell looking craft!
Check out the interior idea over on Chucks' Duckworks page.
Happy scheming!!!
Sincerely,
Peter Lenihan, always ready to encourage a bit of craziness, albeit
harmless to all but David who will have to pay for it all......
