[bolger] Fldg Schnr Almost too embarassing
I said we would update the construction on the Folding Schooner until
it got too embarassing. We are almost there. We assembled and epoxyed
the forward hull. I establsihed a relatively level floor and made sure
the sides and frame bottoms were all in the same plane. Lined up our
marks and put the glue on and the fasteners in. I was bemused by the
1/8 to 1/4 extra side plank I seemed to have at each station. Thought
we would have a little extra but not that much. I think now we should
have made everything flush to the sheer so that there was a little
extra to take care of the bottom bevel in the side plank when you put
the chines on and finish them up square. Thank God for expoxy. I
wonder if I should assemble the stern hull the same way in order to
have a symetrical hull? Otherwise the hull looks very good and sweet.
Hope this helps someone else shorten their learning curve.
