Re: TABLE SAW QUESTION

The main reason to use a table saw is for accuracy, mainly accuracy
riping. If that is what is wanted, and the power is OK, then it
would seem to be a good fit.

Probably the Ryobi Model BTS10, with a one paragraph review here:

Thanks everyone for the information. My friend will be pleased with
what has been said. I didn't want to get on the bad side of his wife
but the only difference between men and boys are the price of their
toys. Some of those new play station and game cube toys can bust a
wallet much faster than anything Ryobi makes.

They are a great saw with a small modification. Use a 7 1/4 blade!
They are cheap blades available in a huge array of choices and keep
the rpms way up where they should be. The saw doesnt have a ton of
muscle and bogging it down will blow the fuse in a heartbeat. Plus a
slow saw can be bad for kickbacks etc. Dave Carnell has a great
blade for this type of saw in either 8" or 7 1/4. Just dont try and
cut three inch Oak frames with it and it will be fine. The fence is
a little funky but hey its $89.00!

I have a friend who wants to buy a Ryobi 10" table saw at the new
Home Depot they have just built in Klamath Falls. All of my saws are
older American saws that if bought new would cost a bundle from what
I have seen researching on the internet. Since you gentleman have had
Home Depot experience, does anyone use one of these Ryobi saws? I
looked at Ryobi's site and the seem to only make one table saw. I
guess the Grand opening sale has it for $89.00. I told my friend I
would try to find out about the saw so he can get in trouble with his
wife. I have been trying to get him to build a Bolger design so he
has his own boat.
