Re: Yuo ththought you had problems.

Seriously, call it a multihull. A cat with 60' of hulls is a 30'
boat, even in Oz?

Too bad you can't find an outboard that runs on bureaucrats.

Or pehaps better yet, tell 'em this IS ONLY your dinghy and that you
are on your way to court suing the gov't for making waters unsafe and
causing the complete lose of your"real" yacht!

seems like a folding schooner really is two smaller boats - if you follow
that line of reasoning, would that get you under the beaurocratic radar, as
long as you avoid motors, or does it work against you, requiring you to
register two boats? If you do get stopped, tell 'em one part is your boat,
the other part is your dinghy, and you just worked out a clever way to 'tow'
it.....

At what point does a two-brick rig with 'grout' holding them together become
a single boat? Perhaps when manned by a single person.......

i just made my first attempt at registering my folding schooner in
western Australia.
Problem 1 The nearest HIN agent is 6oo kms away You have to take the
boat to him!
problem 2 As the boat has a transom to take an outboard it must be
registered. But you have to supply the engine no of theengine in use
to register the boat.
problem3 as the boat is over 7 metres it has to have 1 operating
bilge pump . which hull do I put it in .
they explained that a through way for drainage from the forward
hull to the rear must be fitted that free drains the hulls to the
pump.
I explained that each hull was separated by a 2' high bulkhead. they
said toobad. They then realized what the hull looks likeand asked
how long each hull is . i say 4.5 m . now it doesnt nead a bilgepump.

I'm starting to think that if I get sprung I'll just let out the
reefs and put a dumb expression on my face and sail on.
If Idont put a motor on it and take off the little aluminium plateon
the rear I can ignore evry rule except the flares and jackets.( oops
sorry, PFD,s)
Problem 4 I have no proof of purchasebecause I built it. in The
stat dec that a JP must sign you have to prove to the JP that you
built it with a full set of financial documents ........ which gets
hard when you explain that the wood came fron a number of rubbish
tips.
All the time talking to these people on the phone my brain was
saying to me stuff this , lets go sailing.
