Sometimes I think that's one of the harder things about boat
building. Which one next!

Jeff
Claus,
Can we have a progress report. I plan to start an Idaho soon and
would be interested in your comments. Have you changed anything or
are you staying close to the plans?
Charles

Just put blocking under the forward section of the bow to get reasonably
close the rocker profile shown in the plans. This will pre-stress the
bottom to the approximate rocker shape allowing you to laminate the chine
logs in place and also makes putting the side panels on much easier.

Even on the Wyoming I found this easy to do after I had laminated up the
bottom panel(s). Once the chine logs are on it gets much harder to move. I
found I had about 1 inch of movement available to fit the side panels
without feeling like I was forcing anything.

I have laminated the ply for the bottom on an Idaho 31. I have
planned to draw all the stations and use the chine log (internal)
(its 2 pcs. 1x2 laminated final to 2x2) I will install the first one
and use it as battern and then saw. I am first time builder, will I
run into problems with the Rocker in the stem that way? I will
laminate the second chinelog before attaching the sideplanks. In
fact its a lovely very simple boat, its not my perfect dreamboat, it
would have been Champlain, Topaz and of course the Wyoming, the
Dakota is also a great design, but my final choise stood between the
Idaho and the Tennessee.
