Forward daggerboard and boom tent

Has anyone in this group had any experience with daggerboards positioned forward as drawn for the Whalewatcher design in Boats with an Open Mind? Do they help windward performance without upsetting the steering?

Also has anyone come across any articles regarding design/ building of tents for cockpits? The Martha Janes' boom does not project much past the cabin so it is not a simple matter of slinging a tarp over the boom. It would also be nice to be able to fully enclose it to keep all the blood suckers out.

I originally built my proa in this fashion. If you have a board
forwards of the CE you need a second board aft of it so you can
balance the lift of the two boards at the correct spot (no problem
for a proa). So on a one-way boat with forward board, the rudder,
which must balance against the board, will be much more heavily
loaded than if the daggerboard was at the normal location. If the
boat was designed for this, then no problem. If not, then BIG problem.
