Re: Instant Sail, Row & Motor?
Hello
Bolger had a design called Perfect Skiff that CSD used to sell, that
was designed just for these criteria (i.e. row, power and sail).
I built a power June Bug, but took the rocker out of the stern half,
so it was highly modified. Planed nicely with a 6 hp, 3 adults. One
thing, make sure you rake the transom enough to accept the outboard.
Most small motors require some transom rake.

boat, but is one of the few boats that really is a triple threat
(row/sail/power).
Gypsy is another boat that comes to mind. The Payson lists it as
(row/power/sail).
And Brick, listed by Payson as Big Tortise. It's rowable, but not
really a rowboat.

With a 2 hp motor, no doubt the June Bug fits the bill. Another option for a faster and /
or roomier boat just turned up courtesy of David Beede:

A friend is interest in building an instant boat. Ideally he like to
sail, row, or motor depending on his mood. It looks like the Junebug
might carry a small motor. Any of you ever try that? Any other
designs that might fit the bill?

Isn't Steve Redmond the designer of the Whisp? There have been many looking to get their hands on the
plans.
