Re: [bolger] You get what you pay for-jig saw blades
Ya, I have a 3/16" twist drill bit (supposed to be HARDENED steel), bent
into a nice "L" shape, taped to the computer to remind me not to buy cheap
tools!

Interesting thoughts on router bit quality recently.
For years I have used the standard cheap jigsaw replacement blades
because I didn't know any better.
A few weeks ago, after 2 blades went banana shaped and broke, while
cutting slots in a hardwood grabrail, I gave up and went to a
quality tool supplier. He sold me some German MPS blades, at about
twice the price .
What a revelation. I buzzed happily through the rest of my work with
one blade. In fact, I only replaced it several jobs later, when I
hacked into the steel frame I had clamped my work onto. It would
still cut wood, but I replaced it because I thought I should!

quality tool supplier. He sold me some German MPS blades, at about

What a revelation. I buzzed happily through the rest of my work with
one blade. In fact, I only replaced it several jobs later, when I
hacked into the steel frame I had clamped my work onto. It would
still cut wood, but I replaced it because I thought I should!
