[bolger] Onward Through The Fog Fldg Schnr cont

Lifted our hull up to waist level. Cut out and clamped on both gunwales
and installed one of them tonight with stainless steel screws called
scorpions. I have a hard time finding ss fasteners smaller than inch
and a quarter. So this was the first time we could really use them.
This brand is far superior to what we used on our six hour canoe--had
the square drive and everthing--sharp.We also used the noxious Pl
foaming glue. Put on gloves and set up a big fan and it was okay though
very nasty compared to epoxy. Thought it a reasonable place to use it
up. The hull straightened itself out quite a bit with the two massive
gunwales ( made from 2x2) and it really looks like a boat now with the
shear in place. My wife looking at the frames thought the boat looked
small. Now when we look at this hull and realize it is half the boat,
it looks pretty big. Looks like squaring the hull to a centerline on
the bottom will true up fine. I don't figure we are saving any money
building ourselves though it is helpful to indulge in that delusion
from time to time. It is relatively cheap psychotherapy.
Peace,
