Re: It has been a long time...

Keep us informed about your progress Pippo, we miss your cheerful
postings.
ha ha, yes we have gone very much the Italian way you suggest, not
for what they did, but the way they did it......telling the Team to
stay together at home, while they were off secretly negotiating
their millions. Sorry to hear the Red Moon won't be contesting
again, they were always the most popular here.
Another matter close to your heart.....your classic Moto-Guzzi 500cc
V8 was demonstrated here last month...wow, what a machine!

Hi Don, nice to hear from you.
Thing are slow as usual, but progressing indeed. I really want to
launch by next summer. Luckily enough I've chosen one of the simplest
designs available around... It's a bit too cold nowadays for epoxy
(we've had some snow and freezing temperatures for almost one month)
so I'm using my time shopping around (wood for the spars, rigging
stuff, etc) to get ready for the final rush.
You've all my sympathy for the America's Cup adventure. My heart is
with Black Magic, but it's a hard life. I'm curious: what's the mood
in NZ about Russel Coutt and friends? If they were Italian, they
would have had an hard time trying to get back home, especially if
they won the Cup...
Best, Pippo

Thanks Don,
Yes, I rather thought it would be the same Black
Skimmer. I do have the name and phone number of the
owner and intend to call him to see what his plans
are. I'll keep you updated. Interesting that the
'free' one in the U.S. is a c/board version - and I
bet there are a few more around as well.
Andrew.
(ps - good move on your daughter's part - it's minus
17C in Calgary today with wind chill of -27C...)

Hi Andrew, you made it back ok! My daughter only lasted about 3
weeks in Canadian winter, and came flying back to her bikini!
Yes, it's the same boat. Did you notice that the free one is also
modified to centerboard? So there are 2 in the world now.
As for the Americas cup, even die-hards like me will be relieved to
see the last of it....so much passion and angst here, it's painful.
Cheers,
DonB

Hello Don,

Couldn't help but notice your mention of a Black
Skimmer near you....is that Skipjack of my close-miss
experience, or is it another one in NZ??
Seems that enormous botch-up in the first race set the
scene for the subsequent efforts. I await the next
with bated breath..

Andrew (still in the ffrozen North).

Hi Pippo, I have wondered from time to time how you were getting on
with your new boat. Good to hear from you.
There is a Black Skimmer near me, and it is a very attractive boat.
Much longer and leaner than it looks in the Bolger books.
What stage are you up to with your CK17?
Sorry you got flicked out of the Americas Cup. Looks as though we
are headed the same way.

I have BS, but for chebacco, I have the other plans you mention.

Sorry if this double posts, I seemed to have lost the first.
I have Black Skimmer for Chebecco, but sadly have the other plans
already.

Hiya everybody. How's everything?
I've been nostalgically visiting this forum quite constantly, without
posting though. I've seen a whole bunch of new Micros in the water
(congratulations to all, and in particular to David Jost for his
beautiful Firefly: you did it!). Ah, memories...
I'm still building my non-Bolger boat (the CK17 by bateau.com) and
I'm making good progress on it while it's not showing up on my web
site which I haven't updated since one year...
Anyway, I'm more and more intrigued with the sharpie concept and of
course, while still working on my little boat which I WILL launch
next summer, I'm dreaming about the next one which could well be a
bigger sharpie.
Dreams of grandeur apart (read: a NIS 31') I'm considering Reul
Parker's Egret, which is so beautiful, as well as Bolger's Black
Skimmer, which PCB himself considers able to sail circles around the
former.
Anybody here as an unused set of Black Skimmer plans to trade with an
unused set of Micro, Long Micro or Bobcat (I'll keep the Chebacco
plans)?
Cheers everybody

Pippo
