Re: Microtrawler power

Ask over at the MicroTrawler eGroup at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/microtrawler/?yguid=76788975
as I'm pretty sure they'll know, and have some first hand experience
for you.

By the way, post some photos, here or at Bolger2 if this ones full,
and joimn the MT group and post them there too!

Thanks

Where I know your friend can find someone who'll cut off their left
arm to try a MT.
A friend has a stretched Microtrawler. It's stretched to 16', I
think. He has had a 10 hp Yamaha high thrust on it and is ready to
move up in power and go faster. The few Microtrawler websites seem
to have disapeared. Does anyone have information about how much
power is required to get a boat like this on step and keep it there
with various loads? I seem to remember Bolger reccommending the
Yamaha fourstroke 50 high-thrust but can't be sure. The high-thrust
wouldn't seem to be needed in a planing boat. Also the Yamaha 50
fourstroke is a very expensive engine. Does anyone have any
experience with the new Nissan TLDI outboards? I guess they are a
two stroke that meets new emmissions regs including California's.
Their price of course is significantly less than the Yamahas. I have
a Nissan 3.5 that is a very reliable simple engine but I know
nothing about Nissan's larger engines.
