Re: SAW BLADES

I must be lucky because the blades I have are 36 teeth 1/16th kerf.
I even fired up the saw to make a test cut(in pain)through some very
knotty 2X4 and it went through like butter.

The Makita hypoid saw really works well also it has a rip fence
attachment to make long cuts almost as well as a table saw. I'm a
happy camper. I'm hoping I can get the doctor to fix me so I can
start building some Bolger boats soon. I wish I had some oak scrap
to test the blade on now. I know, I'll get my wife to build a brick
and get started so I can fulfill myself vicariously through her. It
will never work because she will chip a fingernail and that will be
the end.

A quick scout of the Western Home page should the 7 1/4 MAT714 on sale for
$22.99. There is another blade called the MAT 714econ for $8.99. I suspect
the $22.99 blade is the one that Dave sells, and the $8.99 is a contractor
general use blade. It could also be that a clerk got confused and put the
$8.99 price on blades where it shouldn't be. The blade that I have that I
bought from Dave just says Matsushita, 7 1/4 1/16 kerf 5/8 arbor.

Curiousity has overwhelmed me and I am going to order one of each.

The blade I have from Dave has absoulutely no competitor in cutting any kind
of laminate or plywood. I do find I get a better glue line rip in real wood
with my Freud thin kerf ripping blade.

If you don't have the dicount house available, you'll
never regret buying these blades from Dave. I
recently got one and used it for the first time last
weekend, ripping two-by fir. My old table saw usually
won't take much of that without overloading. With the
Matsushita, it was like having a new saw. Just
unbelievable. Sam.

My wife recently bought a saw I have always wanted as a present. It
is a Makita 7 1/4" hypoid drive circular saw. I wanted to get a few
blades for it so I went to a local chain tool store called Western
Tool Supply and to my surprise they had the Matsushita 1/16th thin
kerf combination blades that Dave Carnell says are the best blade for
woodworking. The best part is they are on sale for $8.99! I bought
all I could afford but if you have a Western Tool Supply in your area
get there and buy a few. The salesman told me he uses one to cut
material to glue together and they have such a great cut he just
applies glue because the surface is so smooth with no need for
sanding or prep work.

It was a great find for a Bolger builder and I don't mean to take
away customers from Dave Carnell but at $8.99 it was to good a deal
to pass up.
