Good prices! About the cost of materials...
I bought a Micro on Ebay last fall for $810 - included trailor and sails. The cabin isn't finished and there was some fiberglassing to do on the transom. Haven't done it yet - don't have it home yet. Going to get it next week. That one was in Cleveland. A few weeks later one in New York, nicely finished, went for just over $1500. - Rosalie
Actualy, it is well documented that homemade boats, especialy plywood ones, are worth less that "the sum of the parts".

At least, that is the argument I used to good effect when I had to pay the taxes on it...

:-)

The total is worth less than the sum of the parts? Wasn't this the
gambit that the much maligned corporate raiders of the 80s used? Buy
a company at a deep discount, throw away what was worthless (like
workers), and sell off the remaining assets.

I think my own life might qualify for such treatment!

I would be curious to see
what a Micro would sell for
at open auction on EBay.

Heck, the trailer is worth
more than $650
Last fall, I purchased a Micro, complete with sails, rigging, and
trailer. The main mast and the rudder needs to be rebuilt and one
small area of the cockpit needs to be patched; but overall, the boat
is is good shape. The trailor is commercially built and in good
shape as well. My plans have changed (my wife wanted a bigger boat)
and I've decided to sell the boat. I'm asking $650 for the works;
you can't even buy the materials to build one for that price. I am
located near O'Hare Airport in Chicago. Please email me or call me
at work (847-678-0875)for details and oictures.
