We just reserved the weekend of Sept. 5 - 7, 2003 at the Rideau Acres
Campground, which although technicaly is within the Kingston city
limits is quite rural. See their website at
http://www.rideauacres.com/
for photos, maps, facilities. It is on the Rideau Canal, so is
accessible to Lake Ontario and the Seaway for larger boats (up to 80
feet by 20 beam with drafts to 6 feet), has a beach with camping
adjacent, boat ramp and docks for 25 boats plus beach storage for
hundreds. Plus the usual hot water showers, flush toilets, heated
pool, playground, shop, etc. Motels and hotels are as close as 2
miles, Kingston's downtown is about 5 miles, the park is on Highway
15, just 1 mile north of the 401 Freeway.
See the location at
http://www.mapquest.com/
just type 1014 Cunningham Rd. Kingston, ON into the search. The map
is interactive. Don't believe the star, the property runs down to the
lake. This is an easy find. One turn off the freeway, which is 35
minutes from the bridge to the USA and Interstate 81.
Tentative schedule:
Friday evening, mmet and greet wine and cheese hosted by us, at the
beach, on our houseboat or in the clubhouse depending on numbers and
weather. Feel free to add to the stock of plonk, cheeses or to bring
a favorite non alcholic beverage. Dancing anyone?
Saturday: Perhaps a group breakfast, I'm open for feedback and
suggestions. We can do it in the clubhouse if the idea is popular.
Messingabout 10am - 4 pm, or until the sun goes down, whatever
Evening: Potluck in the clubhouse, bring your enough of your favorite
slop to share. If everyine brings chili at least we're within pizza
and Chineses delivery range.
Later Evening: Campfire or clubhouse yarns and lies, location depends
on weather.
Sunday: Maybe an easy breakfast, say cowboy beans around a firepit,
followed by whatever messing about you want, drift away as desired.
Should be a blast. Hope to see YOU there.
