Re: Steam Launch Phoebe tour website
I forgot to mention that the Messabouter's get an exclusive and free
tour of the Steam Launch Phoebe and the Pumphouse Steam Museum Sunday
morning at 10. The museum is adjacent to the Marine Museum and
the "Alexander Henry" B&B on an ex-CG Icebreaker. Peruse their site
here, all are on it:
http://www.marmus.ca/marmus/alexhenry.html
We've been supporting the Phoebe restoration project for years with
donations of corrosion inhibitors and they're responding with the
guided tour for us. So I guess the tour is sponsored by "Rust Check"
the Messabouts first corporate sponsor. Huurrraagh!

Any how, enjoy the Phoebe photos and come see her up close in

Yep, she's the one and the same. I just put up an old black and white
shot of her on the home page of the boat swap group at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/freeboatexchange/
for your perusual. It's easy to see how a Dakota could be built to
resemble her.
Hope you sort out the chat stuff. Got a 10 year old nearby?

Bruce,
Is Phoebe that neat cabin launch kept indoors at the museum? If
so,I recall seeing her when in Kingston a couple of years ago. I
really like the look of her and was particularly intrigued by her
side mounted companionway. If it did not screw up an already fixed
and well layed-out interior on WINDERMERE I would have been sorely
tempted to go with this mode of access or egress. As it stands
now, were I to still do it,you'd be coming in throgh the WC or smack
through the galley cupboards.Darnit!
Can't wait to see the pictures you've got set up for all of us
to enjoy!
Sincerely,
Peter Lenihan, sticking to simple things like reading and posting from
the messages.........at least I think I know how that works and works
it does :-)

Some interneet providers cache web pages themselves at the server
level to make their internet connection appear faster. One
possibility perhaps?

Bruce,
Ialso just get the page w/ you holding up BTNIB.
Is the computer you see it on the one where you did the work?
If so, you're just looking in the mirror.
Long time since I've done a web site, actually, and don't know how you're set up, but
recall that for remote hosts you may have to get the CGI script and "index" right.
Look at your materials to see if you can understand the difference between relative and
absolute URLs.

Oops, my webmaster (it's me also) goofed again and somehow the
updates with text and pics of Phoebe and the Pump House Steam Museum
didn't end up on the brucesboats site. I'll try again tomorrow, when
I'm at the office.
Pics and text aside, Phoebe is a really cool 48' steam launch that
really resembles a Bolger Dakota (to me anyways). In fact, I've been
toying with the idea of building one and making the exterior as

my personal interior wish list. The real Phoebe will never sail
again. Beautifully restored, she sits on blocks, a permanent museum
display piecs, due to high insurance rates making it impossible for
the museum to operate her afloat.
Museum volunteers will guide us Messabouters on a private tour on the
