PB & F writing styles
I recently read "103 Sailing Rigs" [sic?] (although it was only about
85 rigs in the book that I bought as there was a whole section of the
book missing.) There had been a discussion here about the different
styles of PB and of F - I think they both write very well but there
is a marked difference in their styles. PB has a much more light
hearted way of writing - his wit and humor pervade all that he
writes. F, on the other hand, writes like a scientist or engineer and
everything seems so serious. I personally prefer the former's writing
and think it is more in keeping with the wimsical nature of the boats
he designs - these are toys or at most recreational vehicles in most
cases.
