I solved my own problem, found oarlocks reasonably priced at Seattle Marine.

The bronze were cheaper than the galvanized. For the cheap gull, I ordered
up some nylon ones, easy enough to change later.

Well now, to be sure, the last time I bought a set of oarlocks, why, I just
picked the only pair in stock (counted myself lucky: they were bronze)! And
