Re: Light Schooner Immolation
A mixture of reasons. I didn't have room to keep her, she was
amazingly shoddily built, I wasn't very good at sailing her, and my
friends/regular crew are the sort for more laid back sailing.
(There were complaints and threats of mutiny if I commented on
foresail or jib trim ever again.) So when she sprung a daggerboard
leak, I decided to make room for another project.
From my web server's log, I could see it discussed a few times in
online message groups, mostly in harsh terms. :)
Anyway, it looks like Dave was the first responder for the sails.
Sold! Please post pics, eh?

What was the reason for the burning of the schooner in the first place? By
the way the pictures of the extraction from the 3rd floor apt. are classics.

I'm tempted to build a Light Schooner just to take advantage of your
sail price. Sort of like my grandfather, who advised, "Whenever you
see a parking spot in midtown, take it -- even if you're going
somewhere else."
All best,
Garth
(PS -- to be honest, I won't be building the LS. I'm about to start
on something even bigger. But someone should start this project just
to hoist those sails.)
