I recently found an amazing book that has apparently been around for five
years or so, "The Nature of Boats" by Dave Gerr. Can't believe I missed it
until now.
This is a most elegant way to learn all the "Engineering" (read:MATH) that
goes into designing boats. Almost like an updated version of Skene's
elements of Yacht Design, except much easier to read. For all aspiring boat
designers, everything, right down to the size of rigging wire on a mast with
a double spreader rig is there, with decent explanations of the actual math
(so us sales & marketing types can figure it out).
