Re: [bolger] C-Flex or Plywood
There is no "best" material for boat building. There are better materials
based on the builders experience, boat usage, building time, and of course
pocket book.
In my own opinion, pick the material that satisfies the needs and build from
it. The truth is one person is very happy building from plywood while
others distain it and go solid timber or something like C-Flex.
Then too, it depends on the intended level of TLC you will be giving the
boat. A wooden boat built without epoxy but time is taken periodically to
paint it and ensure it's not rotting away, can last a lifetime.
Basically build it out of what ever you want, just make sure it's safe and
fun! That's my requirement for materials.

Holy cow, Luis, you open a big can of worms there . IMHO, it all depends on how fat your wallet is and what level of boat you have in mind. Except for special boats unlike the ones we are concerned with here in the Bolger group, ply surely rises to the forefront.
"Best material" will be determined by a number of considerations, not limited to : design, size, purpose (mess-around/ocean passagemaking), sustainability of value, skill of the builder etc. Don't get me started.
