Re: Instant Boat
I have built two boats in my lifetime. 15' Diablo and a 22" Tolman
Widebody. Both are great boats. Diablo was used when I was young
and with less common sense, and took it in the ocean often, even at
night. I didn't know better at tthe time 1986, and used polyester
resin. Widebody was built with Marine fir plywood and epoxy. It'll
last a lifetime with a bit of care. It catches fish too. Lots.
Took a month in my backyard in 1986 for Diablo, about a year in a
carport for the Tolman in a carport. Have to wait on good weather
for glassing.

Subject: [bolger] Instant Boat
I don't think the "instant" had much to do with the ease of building.
Rather, the "instant" comes from having a pile of oddly shaped plywood
panels that can be quickly assembled into something the average person
recognizes as a boat.
Comes from a time when the typical wood boat slowly grew from lofting,
jig building, timbers, molds, frames, plank patterns, deck beams, etc......
