[bolger] Re: Saturn (not the planet nor the god)

My 92 Saturn has 320,000 + km (200,000 + miles) on it and cartops a 17' and 18' canoe and an over weight JB (not all at once) and is still going strong. (Can easily manage any two of the above with the pick-up).

Tim,
And it certainly ain't no rocket....
A Saturn is a small car, comparable in size and price to a Honda Civic, Toyota Corrolla, or Mazda Protege, that is manufactured in the US by an independent division of General Motors. It is regarded as being about as reliable as the aforementioned vehicles (i.e.: better than most moderately priced US cars), and is also popular because of the way it is sold, basically a pay one price, no negotiations, no pressure, system. I like it because the body is made of plastic and things like trees and white-tailed deer, which I tend to bump into a lot, bounce off without damage (to the car or the trees--the deer are another story). Unfortunately for me, my 16' Bolger Pirogue totalled one windshield when the boat self-lauched from the roof racks because the windshield is still made out of glass. I have a 1995 with a standard transmission that my daughter refuses to drive on our rotten mountain roads (she's 18 and nervous), so I bought a Corrolla because it had an automatic and because it was on sale. Now aren't you sorry you asked?
