Re: [bolger] mixNmatch epoxy
Another source on epoxy from the Multihull group, where a drum of epoxy
represents a weeks supply.

You will have to work your way into this site, lots of info, lots of
products.
Apparently there are very few epoxy resin makers, maybe only 2.
Everybody else is busy making the hardeners and additives.

Hi Bruce
IIRC I got the the "all resins are the same resin, hardners differ" theory
by mis-reading Dave Carnell's webpage.
http://home.att.net/~DaveCarnell/index.html.Dave's a retired chemical
engineer with decades of epoxy experience. He might be prepared to
comment....
Of course I had to try it for myself, and my (less than exhaustive) testing
confirms the hypothesis. It is possible to mix and match different ratios
and manufacturers products and get a reliable bond. YMMV
If there are enough of you out there in eastern Canada perhaps you should
look at getting together and splitting a 40 gallon drum or two - I can
bulk-buy System 3 locally here on the wet coast for less than half the price
charged on small one or two bottle quantities.... There's you, Peter, Jean
et Gaby, and perhaps a few more in hailing distance. Three or four big boats
and 40 gallons starts to look inadequate :)
cheers
