Windermere mini-update 4.5
Bolgerados,
Saturday morning did not rise bright and sunny.Instead,we were
treated to the sight of dark, heavy, low rolling clouds tumbling along
the bottom of the sky. These cloud sightings would become
obliterated by torrential volumes of rain falling from the sky like
marbles.Doubt lurked in the few recesses left in my mind.Would the
bottom be flipped back on the jig today?
There are many ways to measure the true strength of any one
friendship and these are not always easy. To gauge that of a
grouping of friends,is not a task usually faced in the normal
comings and goings of daily life.
Yesterday,I was fortunate to witness the strength of one
particular group of friends. For,despite the early morning
downpour, insufferable humidity and this being their day off,5 of the
original gang who helped flip my bottom right-side up,showed up to
flip her back on the building jig. This is the Vercheres gang!
Without an evil word spoken, they spilled out of their
cars, coffee cups firmly in hand, and took right away to checking out
the back-flip set up I had ready.
This was nothing fancy.Simply a block and tackle rigged onto
the "flipping" table and onto which the bottom would be hoisted back
up on.And as if my life wasn't already over-flowing with good
things, giant holes began to appear through the cloud base.
Finishing up the last mouthfuls of coffee, the gang went about
positioning themselves in appropriate locations around the perimeter
of the hull bottom. With the heaviest of us taking up the slack on
the line, the rest just lifted that hull bottom with the ease of a
group who has been doing this for a lifetime. In the blink of an eye
or certainly a wink, blink and rub, the hull bottom was once again in
a now familiar position.Upside down!
Work will now move forward quickly toward installing the
fillet pieces and getting that last layer of glass on her.
It is a great feeling to see such tangible signs of progress
in a project but a greater feeling still to know that the ease with
which one moves forward is the result of dedicated friends. I hope
others engaged in their own projects get to experience this special
quality in their friendships too!!
Sincerely,
Peter Lenihan, looking forward to a restful and peaceful Sunday day
off with nothing more stressful then my Pesky Crew to deal with, from
along the shores of the St.Lawence..........
