[bolger] Light Schooner sighted
BO>Tim:
BO>You may be interested in this. I spotted a light schooner in Annapolis
BO>harbor that has a cuddy cabin that very closly matched the model in the
BO>photo you have posted on the Light Schooner site.
Perhaps this is the long-lost cuddied scooner from Austin Tx, or
alternatively convergent mutation. (I don't dare say convergent
evolution, do I...)
I did study, long ago, how to simply cover that big fore cockpit for
work in our Gulfs, involving turtlebacks and similar, to shed waves
rather than diving into them. In the end I decided that it was too much
work for too little return, that the boom tent was cheap and effective
for camping in, and that I shouldn't be out in that sort of water
anyway. I display the photo with cuddy for interest, while ranting
about design changes elsewhere. Thus, like most of the human race, I
can simultaneously hold two totally mutually exclusive positions...

Tim:
You may be interested in this. I spotted a light schooner in Annapolis
harbor that has a cuddy cabin that very closly matched the model in the
photo you have posted on the Light Schooner site. I have seen this
boat more than once; once tied up along side Pusser's (I'm sure that is
in keeping with LS tradition), guarded by a big friendly black lab, and
a couple of months later in a slip. Looks like it is, ah, well used.
I have also seen it sailing in Annapolis right past the U.S. Naval
Academy. It looks great on the water.
