Some years ago I asked PCB to design me a little catamaran in order to
help develop a marine invention. He did and the boat was put together by
Dave Montgomery in the spring of 1993. The invention didn't work out but
the boat has.

She's 15 ft. overall and 8 ft. wide. Each hull is 2 ft wide at maximum
beam. She weighs about 400 lbs. The boat has a pair of solar panels
which keep a gell cell 12 volt battery charged up and are used for the
running and compass lights only. At PCB's suggestion I added a market
umbrella and, on my own, a folding bench seat. The boat steers with a
small, side mounted steering wheel and has a remote gear and throttle
for the outboard. The boat has two three gallon gas tanks abeam of the
bench seat.

Dave built her cheaply which is exactly what I asked him to do. But he
used 1/4" Luan plywood. Over the past winter the covering tarpaulin
leaked rather badly, and she got a pretty good load of water in her.
Some of which penetrated into the Luan. hull bottoms. They need to be
replaced.

Last year, I bought an eight hp. Yamaha four cycle outboard which is
all, and even a little bit more than, she needs. When the boat was
launched I bought a Karavan trailer for her and have customised it to
provide four bunks to seat the hulls on. Using that trailer I brought
the boat up to Lake Champlain for the Messabout a couple of years ago.
Those in the group who were there may remember her and will be able to
comment on her.

This group is not a place to sell boats. I'm not selling her, she's
free. I'm giving her away. Come get her.

The boat is free but the trailer is not. Neither is the outboard. But
both are reasonable.

I can certainly vouch for her performance! My Pesky Crew and I were
both graciously offered a ride on board Jim's Bolger catamaran ST.JAN
THE MARTYR and it was sweet.I have a distinct memory of being
sheltered from a bright hot sun under the shade of a wonderful
parasol and taking my leisure in a comfortable upright seat. With
hardly a sound,Jim accelerated her to cruising speed and it felt like
a magic carpet ride.Really smooth and clean running regardless of the
motorboat wakes or small chop that was on the lake that day.Jim and I
are both on the bigger side of average sized adults and despite ST
JAN THE MARTYRs sleek appearance she took the load with ease.It
wasn't hard to imagine a big cooler filled with stuff for a whole
days outting scooting all over the lake!
Pesky enjoyed her ride too and watching the two of them glide
effortlessly out onto the lake had me feeling envious.
If it weren't for the WINDERMERE project progress full speed ahead,I
know I would be sorely tempted, especially as the needed fix is
relatively quick and easy to perform.Flip the hulls upside down, cut
and grind out the old luan(easy enough if the rot has got her
good),lay down new plywood over hull opening, trace and cut. Then a
nice bed of epoxy around the perimeter and frames, screw down
plywood. All of this then followed by some glass and voila! good for
at least another 10 years,I would think!
And as a bonus, you inherit the bragging rights to a custom Bolger
design built by one of Bolgers favorite builders and friend!!Not too
shabby!!

Anyhow,I hope someone snaps her up quick Jim,she's a great little
boat!!

Sincerely,

Peter Lenihan, happy to give my testamony without a single drop of
beer offered in exchange :-) free, free, free just like the boat!!!
