Hal,
I didn't build a TEAL but did build a SURF and simply used
styrofoam chunks cut to fit in the ends of the boat.I did make sure
however, that both compartments were completely sealed with epoxy
first and that a couple of small cleats were secured to the bottom to
keep the foam clear of the inside bottom to facilitate water
drainage.I did not completely seal these two compartments as per plan
but used limber holes.
Some TEAL builders have gone with a closed deck over the two
ends. Are you going this route or sticking to the plans which showed
slates covering the styrofoam battens?
Can't advise on capsize recoverery, avoided that like the plague,
but can only say that it would be hard to capsize in normal
conditions since your weight is so low in the boat and the mainsheet
is intended to be kept in hand for instant release and de-powering of
the sail.
Hope this helps a bit!

Good luck with your launch.....post photos please!!!

Sincerely,
Peter Lenihan,ex SURF owner builder.........
Fellow Teal people, and others:

What did/are you using as flotation for your Teals?

How are you attaching the flotation to your Teal?

What is the best way back in after a capsize?

An August launch appears possible!
