Re: [bolger] TIMS Sharpie bow unit progress

Sounds fun. Looking forward to the pics.

How about a hole bored in the corner gussets saving the time and costs
of all those lashing cleats????

One question, when one section lifts to a wave/wake what keeps the hulls
together below the waterline?

Rick.

Nothing at all. It's the same as a barge lash up for the Mississippi
towboats. I just hope it'll work at this diminutive size. If not,
we'll add a 2 by 4 across each unit under the step-though cut out and
bolt them at that lower point.

Just finished raising the freeboard of the forward 4 feet to three
feet, by grafting in a 12" high "foc'sul"???, if that's the right
word. Bonded in a length of 4 by 4 for a samposn post at the same
time and 2 by 2 gunwales on the raised deck also. A 12" high bow seat
encloses a floatation tank forward.

Then I framed in two stern seats, on each side. 12" by 24" to be
flotation tanks and allow a motor to be used on the bow unit when she
is free of the rest of the, dare I say ship????

Not much left to do, lay in a centre thwart, add the transom gussets
of doubled 1/2" ply to take the tow cleats, a transom knee and paint
the sucker.

Just gotta' find a 9.9 HP or so that I can borrow. Then I can try
TIMS at 30 feet long in the Cataraqui River.
