Hi Dennis,

I like the standing lug. You probably could easily draw one that would have the same COE as your sprit rig. I reef mine by pulling the boom jaws off the mast and rolling up the amount I want. (This works only with the foot of the sail attached to the boom.) I lower the halyard and put the jaws back on the mast and re-cleat the downhaul. Quick and leaves the COE about the same as the full sail.

To row my boat I lower away and tuck the sail (with yard and boom) in the boat alongside me.

Hello, all. I have become a lurker since selling my Bolger
Featherwind and building a Dobler 16. But, this is a place of some
wisdom and experience, and so I am asking you to share that with me,
if you would.

I would like to hear your opinions on sailing rigs. My Dobler has an
86sqft battened sprit sail that is a pain in the neck. The battens
don't allow the sail to be easily scandalized or brailed, don't allow
one to roll the sail up on the sprit, and getting it set up is not as
easy as advertised. Don't get me wrong, I like the aesthetics of the
sail, and when all is up and working it performs beautifully, but, I
want to trade to something simpler and more user friendly. Whaddaya
think?
