Those of us who grew up in California know that when the big
one happens everything east of the San Andreas fault will fall
into the Atlantic?!

At the moment I am trying to collect enough boats to sail my
family to the east coast of California when Utah becomes
ocean bottom. Thats what I told my wife and I'm sticking with it.

I refuse to weep in public or turn green with envy no matter how
good your climate is or your proximity to a real beach...with salt
water to boot! Be careful you do not set yourself up for a case
of "burnout" since your gorgeous climate will never give you an
excuse to lay low and re-stock your energy supplies. The only break
you could hope for is going to happen when a big chunk of your
beautiful state slips into the ocean.By then, you should be very well
equiped indeed with a private fleet of rescue boats:-)

You're doing great good work on the TEAL.Keep it up and I may have
to give into all sorts of crazy urges and build a small boat just
for the fun of it to!I think I must have caught the" crazy urge bug"
from the other Bruce, aka, Le Baron de Kingston the last time he
visited my shooting gallery.

I hope I never recover!!

Sincerely,
Peter Lenihan

As my girlfried says:

Choose your addictions well.

Summer and Winter in California are not all that
different, especially here near the beach.

Still I really want to take the kids boat
camping before school starts after Labor
Day Weekend.

My goal, is to get the Teal wet this coming
weekend, hope the FedEx delivery of white
poly tarp comes in time.

This evening, I worked on triming the cloth from
the chine logs, installed the first piece of the
keel strip, some more finishing of the lee board
and the rudder, and epoxied most of the interior
of the boat.

Gee wiz,I always thought that if you could be addicted to love or
have a lust for life then surely there would be nothing wrong if a
fella had a BBA( which I took for Big Bad Addiction) for
boats.Nevertheless, there are worse evils out there to corrupt both
body and mind and if "addiction implies there is something wrong"
then henceforth I shall refer to my boat-shop-in-the-boonies as my
St.Lawrence Seaway Shooting Gallery.Just one fix and I'm good until
the very next day!
Does it ever snow or get really cold where you are Bruce? I
mean, what's this talk of summer and winter all about :-)

Hooked? Nah. Sounds like he could quit anytime he wants.:)

Don't you love the rationale for building the Teal? He wants to go boat camping.

Yeah, sure!

CBBS = Compulsive Boat Building Syndrome

BBA = Boat Building Addiction

I admit to CBBS but I don't now what
BBA is???

Summer is ending soon, and I want to
go boat camping this summer, hence
a need for a Teal. The Navigator
will resume construction in September.

I tint my epoxy, so that the scratches
do not show through the paint [to be
applied later.]

Lovely progress on your TEAL Bruce but doncha thinks ya should be
finishing up and launching your MICRO NAVIGATOR first? I'd betcha
there's a whole lot of us just dying to see pictures of her sailing
along and reading your report on her !!:-)
But then again, perhaps David Ryan is right and you're are seriously
afflicted.

Get well soon...er...a....NO!......STAY AFFLICTED!!! It's great!!!

Sincerely,

Peter Lenihan,low level suffer........
Bruce,

I may have missed an earlier discussion thread - Whats the red stuff
on the cloth? Is it some sort of copper epoxy?

Bruce,

Given the other boats in your inventory and your level of
boat-building competence, your current Teal project is a clear
indication of either CBBS, or perhaps even a case of full-blow BBA.
