I suggested SURF to Bruce for the simple reason that he now already
has the same rig and leeboard for it as the TEAL.He only has to
build the hull(3sheets of ply?) and rudder.
Anything to help speed the speediest boatbuilder on the group toward
the enlargement of his fleet:-)

I think you'll find that Windsprint is closer to Teal aesthetically and proportionally.Teal is 12' x3'6'' , Surf is 15'6'' x 3'7'' and windsprint 16' x 4'6''.Also Surf has a "Clipper" Type Bow and uses the same rig a Teal.Windsprint has a bilge board that eliminates the unsightly look of the lee board on the Teal & Surf designs.Wind sprint's rig is a Balanced Lug of 113 Square Ft.(Almost Twice Teals Sail Area) and has two sets of reefing points that certainly would be needed in anything but fairly calm weather. The rig for Windsprint would cost a lot more than Teal's simple but effective rig, maybe as much as 3X the $
My father built me a Teal dinghy when I was 10 years old(Now 25years ago) and she was an excellent dinghy to row as well as learn to sail in.She was my first Bolger Boat.My father is a great fan of Bolger's designs and has built quite a few, ranging from the "Elegant Punt" to the 30' "Romp"(Different Boats) design.Currently he is about 2/3rds of the way through strip planking a "Harbinger" Catboat(15'0" X 7'1")featured in Bolger's "Folding Schooner" Book.Hopefully the Catboat will be ready to be launched in a couple of months so we can start on another project(Bolger design of course) for my brother and myself.
P.S have you ever noticed with spell check that "Bolger" always comes up as "Bilge" as the alternative!!
