Re: [bolger] Chebacco Calender - question

Actualy, all the shots, at least the ones I've taken, are 1152x864.

I'll up the resolution on my camera for future shots, but I'm pretty sure the existing ones will blow up nicely.

For instance, the title picture on the zine this month is this one:
http://www.chebacco.com/articles/chebacco11.2/P1010004.jpg

It's my desktop on my 19 inch monitor, and it's smooth as silk. Calender would be smaller than my screen.

I don't shrink them, just thumbnail them, so people can click on the thumbnail and get a really detailed look.

No telling but the trying, though.

FWIW, I think you'd do best if you got some new shots. To get good,
non-pixilated enlargements for your calendar you'll need 1600x1200 (2
megapixel) or 2048x1536 (3 megapixel) resolution. The typical 320x240 to
640x480 shots we use on our web sites won't blow up well at all.

Bateau.com offers a free PDF format calendar that is frankly horrible. The
resolution is just too low to be worth spending time downloading and
printing it.

I'd pay for a good home made boat calendar (and not just Bolger boats), but
I want to see good photos from the standpoint of both artistic and
production quality.

Actualy, I already have a couple of Micro's in the 'zine.

80/20 rule.

Micro and Chebacco are the two most popular Bolger boats, according to the recent poll.

So, will probably go with what good shots I can find on the website.

For now. No reason I can't make more than one, though. If any of you guys want to send me shots of your boats?

I'm thinking a Chebacco/Micro one, and possibly a "Bolger" one later.

Also, Chuck suggested I do a "Bolger Boat" calender.

Thoughts?

I have to think there would be a bigger market. - Chuck

[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
Now, THERE is an idea.

Will put one together tonight.

Also, Chuck suggested I do a "Bolger Boat" calender.

Thoughts?

I don't have the pictures for that. If people want to submit pictures, they would get a free calender if thier picture is used in
it.

Comments?

You could create one for free at www.cafepress.com and put them up for sale to see who'd buy one. No risk that way.

Give it a shot!

Richard,
What a lovely pîcture of your Chebacco!!!Ever think of doing a
calender of only shots of your boat? I'd buy one!
As to the mizzen flutter,I used to get that on my MICRO until I
learned to keep her snotter hauled in tight for a really flat sail,Ã
la windvane. Also,my mizzen boomsprit has a snap shackle to hold the
sail more or less centered on the boom sprit and not twisting from
being hooked onto one side of the boomsprit. The mainsail, however, has
a small line sewn into the leach and ties off in a very small jam
cleat sewn to the leach, which I can tighten up on as the sail ages
and begins to lose her perfect brand-new shape. Perhaps a similar
line couild be sewn into your mizzen?

Sincerely,
Peter Lenihan
