minimal cruiser cabin sides??

in the spirit if the tiny cruiser, could one make a boat like BRICK,
A 4X8' OR 4X16' box boat with fold in cabin sides abobe the hull
rather like bird watcher??
what i am thinking of is an open sprit sailer with lots of free board
by day, when the cabin sides of 2x2" wood and plexiglass would be
folded against the inside of the hull on hinges. this openness would
allow easy entry and exit of an unballasted ship.
at night the cabin sides would be swung up and latched into place. a
5 ' long roll of canvas with battens on the 1' foredeck would be
rolled part or all of the way back to the 1' rear deck to keep out
cold or rain. she could be sailed this way also with the sheet line
running through an eye bolt at the rear of the tiller .
this would allow the sailor to sit in the floor and be live ballast.
she could have the sides down for sleeping in the breeze on hot
nights or up. the 4x16 version i built with flat decks and 250 lbs of
brick ballast was a sedate sailer but adequate. she cost 400$ and
took only 40 hours to build.
i think the boat i am proposing would cost 300$ and take 30 hrs as a
4x16' even with a home sewn proper spritsail.
