Turns out the place was open on Monday, and I gave them a call.
Apparently, temperature is not much of a problem even in the 30's
except for slow cure (weeks, maybe), and it makes application dificult
if you let the tube itself get cold. I kept it warm and all worked
fine, but it seemed to take an awful lot to get it to squeeze out
everywhere. About 1/3 tube or so for one 14' gunwhale. Maybe if I had
more clamps (eternal cry of boatbuilders everywhere) and had sanded or
planed the joint a little flatter. We have warm spells predicted so I
bet it will be pretty strong by next weekend. Turns out building when
it's 35 degrees is no problem if you don't take long breaks, even
wearing canvas sneakers (flat soles save back some).
Actually went over to the garage I'm renting and worked on one of my
boats for a while today (after shoveling my way in). Kind of fun for a
couple of hours. Lesson to all: do your homework on glue. Was able to
rip off old (previous builder's) gunwhale by hand with almost no
resistance. Also, he used ludicrous scarf <1:1, which of course broke.
Maybe I should say slanted butt joint. Am now to the point of gluing on
a new piece. Also need to fill some spaces.

How low of a temp can you still use PL Premium at? Does it fill spaces
with any strength? Instructions on container don't seem to help and I
struck out on a quick web search.

My epoxy (Raka) seems to be good to either 40 or 50F with the fast
hardener, depending on if you believe the web site or the instructions.
I'm afraid my workspace will probably be in the 30's most of the time
for the next few days. I left the epoxy in the garage, even when it got
very cold, so I'm wondering if it's ok as long as I can't see any
crystallization or cloudiness?

THanks for any advice.

Still attempting to decide between conversion from Nymph to Rubens
Nymph or just make Brick from scratch.
