Re: Hello......Newbie to the group......
A fine plan for sure Glen and personaly I think building a
stripplank boat is a good choise,I will post you some pics
later how to make a real beauty out of that boat, its easyer to
work with stripplank than ply when planing to do it alone, you
sure could make an eyecatcher or a pleasure for the eye
and thats worth doing and sure is a good investment in time
dont change anything of the original design, bilgekeels can
sure point as high as a keelboat
See you soon on the net, cause I am from Belgium and thats
rather far from where you are.Succes anyway

Given the limited cruising in our smallish lakes here, speed is not
as much a requirement as a big/stable enough boat to 'putz' around

as well. As I recall it's lighter (quicker, cheaper to build, easier
to trailer) and you might prefer the gaff sloop rig to the gaff cat
of the Pirate Ship. Both these boats are strip planked, as I recall,
and are pretty heavy for trailering.
In plywood, there are Long Micro and Blueberry and Chebacco, and
Seabird '96, and ..... a bunch of others.

Getting ready to build my first sailboat and researching what to
build...something 15'to 22' with a cabin in the trailer cruiser style
and fixed keel....
I have been searching thru the Bolger designs and like most of what i
see, but there is one boat i cannot find a picture or specs for on
the net that interests me....Grandpa's Pirate Ship...If anyone has a
pic or info on this design i would really like to hear from them or
see some pictures....also where i might be able to buy the plans
I love the 'old timey' look of Bolgers designs and while i could buy
a plastic cruiser i really want a wood planked boat....and the pure
pride of setting sail in something i built myself....
I envy those of you that have had that 'first sail' in your own
boat....
Thanks, Glen
