In just nine short days the great Kingston Amateur Boat Messabout
will open at Rideau Acres Campground with an onboard "Wine and
Cheese" party aboard the beautiful, yet strangely Bolgeresque (ie:
very boxy) houseboat Adagio. I've even heard jealous boaters in the
cookie cutter javex bottle Thundercraft shout "daern floating
construction shack!", or some such as they zoom past. The nerve...

Anyway, back to the Messabout. It is now officially a charity event.
Neil Dick (yes, that is his real name, and anyone who gets to meet
his son better not laugh at HIS name, I can't even dream of
mentioning it here!) owner of Rideau Acres Campground will be
donating $1 from every entrance fee to our two official charities,
the 50 cents to the Kingston Red Cross and the other half buck to the
UN's World Food Program. These two TIMS units will alsohave a
donation can on them, and all change, bills and nsf cheques will be
vey welcome.

Ben's pub, another sponsor, will accept his own donations as the
happy boaters try a pint or two in his fine establishment.

Duckworks Magazine will be pleased to donate ALL profits from the
sale of subscriptions actually signed on and paid at the Merssabout!
(I'm not clear which charity he plans on making the donation too, but
knowing Daddy Duck (That's PL's phrase Chuck, I would NEVER call you
TAHT!) he's probably aiming for a big donation at Ben's Pub.

Full details are at my non-commercial boating site at:

Just click on the Messabout map near the top of the page.

Be there, it's the biggest Bolger event in the Northeast (perhaps the
world) this year.

Wholely unconfirmed runours hint that Phil abd Sue MIGHT be there.
They replied to me off line, with a fax that said "they can't get to
enough of these" months ago and I snail mailed them a more formal
hard copy invitation and the pages off my site about the Messabout,
last week as a further enticement. No promises, but if they make it,
and YOU don't, you'll be kicking your lamb chops for a
loooooonnnnnnggggg time, won't ya'!

Yep, I earned it! I was a Boatswain in the RCN(R) many years ago and
can still manage to tie a bowline with my eyes closed.
