Re: Kingston Messabout Successful

I am soooo jealous!

...and cannot wait for pictures!
Thanks Bruce for a wonderful Messabout. Katie(the Sneakeasy), Sally,
and I arrived home in Maine about noon Sunday without incident. It
was a memorable time making new friends and riding in lots of boats.
No better way to spend the weekend. I gave lots of rides in "Katie"
but was most impressed with the young people that thoroughly enjoyed
their rides, I let each drive a while which seemed to be
inspirational for them! It was great fun! Thanks also to Chuck
Leinweber and Sandra for their care given to the participants, they
both helped out where needed and were interested in each and every
boat. I'm anxious to see the many articles that will surely appear
in Duckworks Magazine.

Many thanks to you, Bruce, for being such a generous and gracious host.
The venue was nice, the weather was nearly perfect (on Saturday, at
least), and, most importantly, the people and boats were interesting
and diverse.

Now considering Michalak's AF3 even before completing my CSB Pirogue,

Marc.

forward to it,thanks in advance.

Thanks for the wonderful Messabout, Bruce. I had a great time.

Bruce is just a great host - what a party. For some of us up here
this was the first time we could "come out of the closet" and hang
with other boat builders.

Bruce set a record with TIMS. He also set a record for hosting the
first Canadian Messabout and, to the best of my knowledge, the first
bilingual (French/English) messabout.

Many congratulations.

Is "Small Boat Event Impressario" a valid career choice?

Peter
Many thanks to all who came. I have never had as much fun in one
weekend. Sensory overload in the boating department occured.

A partial list of the attending boats (I know I'll forget a few!)\

Champlain, Microtrawler, Hawkeye, Sneakeasy, Gloucester Gull,
Seagull, Frosty, AF3, three one sheet skiffs, Piragua, Pirogue, two
Mouses (Mice?), Paired Brick schooner, Cabin Fishcat, Brick, Nymph,

Pram, Diablo, two skin on frame kayaks, five plywood kayaks, three or
four ply canoes, one off cross planked rowing scow, TIMS (does she
count as 11 boats or only 1?) made it to 96 feet LOA and operated
under its own power (must admit that due to leaking-sinking TIM-bits
we shortened her to 80 and took a delightful cruise with a dozen
hands on board, Adagio steel pontoon houseboat, a one off electric
(circa 20') window cruiser reminisent of a shrunken Champlain, Sam's

How late will things be going on tonight? (And is there a schedule
somewhere?) My partner and I are noodling about whether to come
tonight, or in the morning, and we're at least an hour away (if
that soon) from being able to leave.

What is the URL for the webcam?
It doesn't officially open for 4 more hours, yet it is already a
succes in my books. (Thin, though they may be!)

Already here:
Champlain,
Hawkeye,
Yakette,
2 skin on frame Kayaks,
2 Strip kayak,
Nymph,
Seagull,
TIMS at 56 feet LOA,
Pirogue,
Diablo,
Sneakeasy,
Adagio-the floating construction shack,
and more arriving all the time......

Hope'in to meet a peck (or is it a bushell?) of new boatin' buddies
this weekend.
