RE: [bolger] Short list of Boat Books

Six copies on Alibris starting at $49.95 up to $79.95. I'm keeping mine for
investment purposes, although I must confess I've reaped many times those
sums in noodling over PCB's work in the book. Annie's book is my wife's
favorite; every time she rereads it and gets that dreamy look in her eye, I
know she's calculating that we could afford to cruise like Annie and Pete if
I was a wee bit more frugal..

Small Boats is one of my favorites!

There are twelve copies of
_Small Boats_ currently for
sale from used book dealers
starting at $35 at:

http://www.abebooks.com/

Another favorite book, for
shear 'day dream' enjoyment,
is _Voyaging on a Small Income_
by Annie Hill. She is a fan
of the Bolger Tortoise, and
includes the plans in the book.

Have you forgotten William Garden's Boat Books to dream over some wonderful designs like "Privateer","Sandlark" and "Grime" for example and maybe some Howard I Chapelle also.Bolger of course is #1 for sheer diversity, buildability, practicality, cost and number of designs he's done. He's very honest too about them and tells you if something doesn't perfrom as expected or has some faults!!! I'd love to get hold of his first book "Small Boats",I've never seen it or many of the designs in it.I've got access to all his other Books(apart from his novel) and have heard rumours via internet that he's got a couple of new Boat design books in the works!!.I wonder if this is true?.I hope so.Can't wait to see them if this is fact!.Anyone know for sure? -apart from Bolger himself!!
Maybe Bruce Hector's excess TIMs units could suffice for extra bookshelves with some modifications(The ones that tried to sink!!!!)or one could epoxy saturate some used cartons of Maudite to form stackable Bookshelf/shevling/storage units.I believe there's plenty about in Kingston, especially after last weekend!!!(Only joking)

Mike,

The Meadowbird design, if I recall correctly, is an adaptation of Sam
Rabl's Titmouse design, for which the complete plans are shown in the
book _Boatbuilding in Your Own Backyard_, by S. S. Rabl. If you are
going to modify the design anyway, you may find that all you need is in
the book.

By the way, this book is on my short list of books that all
boatbuilders should have.
