[bolger] 31' Topaz
Just to let you folks know that the search for good ply goes on. I
have been researching birch as an alternative. This at the advice of
Phil B. From what I can gather, it seems that the glues are pretty
much the same accross the board. Phil said that there would would be a
weight saving going this way. Anyhow it will be incapsulated. Home
Depot can get it in, in a couple of days for much less than half the
cost of ocoume.I am going to the warehouse to look and wheigh sheets
first hand before buying. I did receive the plans and the bow design
is very clever and has a fine entry. Overall, the boat is a real
beauty. By the way, I am a sailor and have built several sail boats
and so feel like a traitor going to a motor vessel. I however I live
on a chain of lakes with low bridges as well as going to the north
channel, lake huron. This will work better. I hope to start
construction within the next few weeks. Regards, Brad Raby
